Project://JUNO Devlog - 002
By A.A. Lopez
Honestly did not expect to be writing up a devlog on a Tuesday evening, especially not about Project://JUNO, but here we are! So last time I wrote I mentioned that I would dig more into what the background and ideas are there for PJ, but right now that's mostly all fluff. If anything I think I'll be able to show off more of what it is by just updating and pointing out the features as I include them.
Is that a great way to show off? Probably not. But is it something that feels more like me? No idea. But is it lazy? Maybe, so that's why I'll go with that route.
Though, honestly, it's because it's really hard to pinpoint all the things I want to do with this app. It's grandiose and over the top, and I would have to dedicate like a good afternoon or full day to write out a proper dissertation on what will be the aims of what I want. I'd also want to provide as much visuals as I could, which is actually why I decided to pull this devlog up in the first place.
I decided to get a yearly subscription to Lucid. I've found it's a great way to sort out my thoughts, and has been an excellent way to keep everything organized. Mostly been hesitant on getting it due to the price on it, so I've been working on the free diagramming softwares like LibreOffice or ClickCharts, but those tend to be incredibly tedious to use, and the formats they export out as are incompatible with various other programs. So biting the bullet I paid for the individual plan, let's see how helpful it is this next year.
Oh, right, the other reason I'm bringing this up is that I've gotten into Pseudocoding, the practice where you lay out what the application, program, whatever you're working on into plain speak. It can be in any way that a person feels most comfortable. I've seen folks use things like flipbooks, family tree looking things, and so many other cool things. I'm fairly certain that my attempt looks more like what you would consider code might look like.
Here's the current Pseudocode of Project://JUNO. I've had to start back at square one, but know that I have a bit more experience making apps, chrome extensions (have to add that into a devlog soon) I've found that having something like this really helps the plan. Right now the main focus is just the log-in/sign-up for Seekers and Matchmakers. But hopefully soon I'll be able to change that.
It's pretty cool that I'm getting far on this stuff. If you told me about 2-3 years ago that I'd start to understand and be able to do stuff like this I'd probably just shrug and say cool or "uh-huh." But now that I am, it really is awesome!
All right that's it for this devlog, catch you guys on the next one!
